Welcome to Abbey Upholstery and French Polishing! I’ve always been destined to work in the family business, my art college tutor said so when I was 17!

After my degree in Furniture Design and Build I’ve worked in furniture retail for Heals in Manchester and some independent furniture companies in Redbrick Mill, Batley. I’ve been working in the family business since 2012, alongside my father Tom for the first year or so and gradually taking over until his retirement in 2018. I’ve learnt a lot and brought some of my own ideas into the workshop that I’ve picked up over the years.

I love all the aspects of my job, from helping my customers find the right fabric to getting hugs (and tears!) when I deliver a family heirloom. You are always learning on this job, everyday brings a new challenge. Returning customers feel like part of the family, I recognise voices on the phone and then the cogs turn as I drive up to their house again and I can see the furniture before I even step inside. Every piece leaves an impression!
