This International Artist Day, we are thrilled to celebrate Creampot Furnishings.

Headed up by Glynnes and Adrian, Creampot Furnishings are passionate about transforming tired or dated furniture for their clients all over the world. Whether it’s Grandma’s old bureau or an old coffee table which needs modernising, Glynnes and Adrian are the dream team who are going to restore and revitalise it for you.

Everything they work on truly becomes a piece of art. Every approach to a project is bespoke, with Glynnes treating each item of furniture as a blank canvas to apply her artistry to. You only need to see some of her projects to understand how she turns items into a showpiece for your home.

We had a chat with Glynnes a few weeks back about Creampot Furnishings and the types of projects she works on for her customers. Let us tell you, the enthusiasm Glynnes has for her work oozes from her. Her creativity and sheer love of working on her customers’ projects are the most notable things about her. And with good reason, we must add. From restoring sideboards to dressing tables to dollhouses, the sheer craftsmanship that goes into every project shines through.

Q & A with Glynnes of Creampot Furnishings

Q: What kind of work do you do at Creampot Furnishings (CPF)?

CPF has been in existence for four years, and in this short space of time, we have received several awards and chosen to be a member of The British Institute of Interior Design.

We take great pleasure in working with a huge variety of clients, from private customers, interior designers and commercial businesses, on an array of different projects. Whether it be restoring or repairing a cherished piece of furniture, we are passionate about creating dream pieces to be treasured. My client base stretches worldwide, with numerous commissions from the USA, Europe and a Interior Designer in Hong Kong.

Our projects vary from repurposing a sentimental piece of furniture that, in its current style or status, just does not have a place in your home. So, what do you do when you simply cannot bear to part with it? This is where CPF steps in, completely transforming your furniture so it takes centre stage in your home. Take Miranda’s old dark gentleman’s wardrobe, for example. We worked hard to transform it into a classy, useful drinks cabinet to wow her guests.

Q: What makes working with Creampot Furnishings so special?

We are always thrilled to share our passion for craftsmanship and design with you when working on a furniture transformation. Nestled in the charming village of The Cotswolds, our workshop is where we bring old furniture back to life and create stunning home decor pieces that add a touch of personality to your space.

For us, furniture restoration isn’t just a job but a labour of love. Adrian’s skilled hands and meticulous attention to detail ensure that each piece we work on is restored to its former glory. His craftsmanship shines through in every project, from repairing wobbly legs to refinishing worn-out finishes.

As for me, Glynnes, I bring my artistic vision and passion for design to our creations. With a background in arts and design, I love to play with colour, texture and form to create pieces that are not only beautiful but also functional.

At Creampot Furnishings, we’re dedicated to preserving the past while embracing the future. Whether it’s restoring a cherished heirloom or creating a stunning home decor piece, we’re committed to bringing joy and beauty to your home.

As a creative team, we take your vision and allow the creative process to work its magic in crafting pieces that inspire belief in the transformative power of beauty!

Q: What’s your favourite thing about working with your clients?

Taking their ideas and visions and turning them into something they didn’t think was possible to achieve is an absolute must for us. This could be working on a piece of furniture they already have sitting in the corner, which has potential but is currently not bringing any joy or serving a purpose, or sourcing something old and creating a bespoke one-of-a-kind piece for their home.

Take Emma’s bureau for example. She had inherited this piece from her grandparents, her Grandad having made it as a wedding gift for her Grandma. Of course, it had so much sentimental value, but it didn’t quite work in Emma’s home. She wanted it to be turned into a drinks bar, so we set to work, meticulously transforming it with the addition of mirrors and art deco elements. When returning it back, many gasps of astonishment and tears of pure joy were shared, which is what makes our job so worthwhile.

Q: Have you got a favourite project that’s really stuck with you?

I went to see a customer, Joanna, to look at repurposing a beautiful oak dressing table. On walking down the passage I saw a beautiful, but very old and tired doll’s house. Joanna mentioned it was given to her as a child in the late 1930s. She wished she could pass it on to her grandchildren but it was definitely worse for wear. I said that I would love to restore it and bring it back to its former glory.

I stripped the doll’s house back to its bare bones, made lots of repairs and started from scratch, room by room. As Joanna was given the dolls’ house in the 1930’s, I decided to give it a 1930’s theme, sourcing designs and wallpapers from that era to scale for the dolls’ house. It took me three months to complete the house. On returning it, I walked in, with the house covered and placed it on the table. On removing the cover and opening the house, Joanna dropped to her knees and burst into tears. She was completely speechless and blown away. She laughed and said as I was leaving, “I can’t let my grandchildren play with this now, I am going to keep it all for myself.”
