Ready to spend more time doing
what you love?

And less time stressing about social media algorithms and SEO?

If you’re anything like us, you probably started your repair and restoration business because:

  • You care about doing things properly
  • You value craftsmanship over convenience
  • You were seeking the freedom and flexibility of being your own boss
  • You wanted to build something meaningful and have a positive impact on the planet

But instead, you find yourself constantly thinking about whether your marketing efforts are up to scratch, wondering if anyone even sees what you do, and fretting about your prices. You’re not alone.

As repairers ourselves, we know only too well how expensive and time-consuming marketing your business can be.
And it’s something we hear all the time from our members. They love repairs and restoration, but hate selling.

Becoming a member of our community helps to take away that headache, getting your business in front of a ready-made audience of people who truly value the amazing skills you offer.

Because in a throwaway world, repair matters more than ever.

Our world is changing fast. And not always for the better.
Skills are being lost. Fast furniture replaces craftsmanship. Cheap imports undercut expertise.

But it’s not all bad news (phew!).

More and more people are waking up to the reality, and are determined to do things differently.

There ARE clients out there who want:

  • Sustainability
  • Quality
  • Emotional connection
  • Items that last

The problem? They don’t know where to find you.

Until now…

Our engaged community (17k+ on our social media) coupled with our website SEO set up (59K+ Google search hits per month…) means we are bringing people who truly see the value in repairs and restoration directly to your business.

Think of us as your repair matchmakers, delivering your ideal clients direct to your door (or website).

Built by repairers. For repairers.

We’re Ally and Gem. A furniture restorer and upholsterer on a mission to change the way society views repairs.
We realised it was probably time to do something when we couldn’t stop ranting. Over coffee. Over wine. Huddling under gazebos at rain-soaked markets…
Every time we got together the conversation would turn to the same thing: our frustration that there were all these amazingly skilled repairers out there that people just didn’t know about, because society seems to value the ‘quick fix’ so much more.
In a world of mass marketing, how are the independent repairers meant to compete?
We created We Are Repairs because we truly believe in the joy and power of fixing what’s broken.
We want to inspire people to rethink waste, rediscover the joy of cherished possessions, and experience the feel-good factor that comes from choosing repair over replace.
And we want repair heroes, like you, who are working their magic up and down the country to feel seen and supported, so that as many people as possible can benefit from your skills.

“We Are Repairs is great because they’re bringing you an audience who already see the value in what you do.”

“I get a lot of satisfaction out of bringing a quality product back to life. What I don’t enjoy as much is having to find the time to try and do everything else within the business!”

“Selling and marketing don’t come naturally to me, so anything that helps with that can only be a good thing.
I find it can be difficult to find the right place to advertise your services. You want to make sure they’re getting seen by the right people. We Are Repairs is great for that.”

You don’t have to do it alone

We know just how lonely it can get when you’re spending hours in the workshop with nothing for company but the radio and a box of tools.

When you sign up to become a member of We Are Repairs, you become part of something bigger.

Yes, it’s a business directory. But it’s also a whole lot more:

A central hub, whose customers already believe in repair and restoration.

A community of like-minded craftspeople.
Our Premium and Featured members get access to a WhatApp group where you can ask questions, celebrate your wins, or just have a moan about the things you’re finding hard. We also run training sessions, which are discounted, or free, depending on your membership level.

“I’ve definitely seen an uptick in enquiries since joining We Are Repairs, and I love the sense of community and connection.”

“It’s great to know there are other people out there who think in the same way I do.”

“Being a repairer doesn’t really feel like work to me. I love being able to restore memories for people or give them that nostalgia hit. The bit I find harder is getting the word out there about my business. I knew that was something I needed help with.”

“I feel reassured by the fact that Ally and Gem are repairers themselves and have gone down the same path. You know they’ve created this for the right reasons.”

FAQs

In the first instance, you will need to raise the issue with the repairer that you employed to conduct your repair for you. All of our Premium Repairers and Featured Experts have been verified and have agreed to our Repairers Code of Conduct. If your repairer is a Premium Repairer and Featured Expert on We Are Repairs and you feel they have not responded to your complaint please send us an email detailing your complaint to [email protected] and we will follow up with the repairer to help you resolve the query.
Some items can be repaired via postal service so you do not need the repairer to live locally to you. For other items, it may be that the restoration required is specialised and those experts do not live near you but offer a Nationwide service. Sadly, some repair and craft skills are in decline and the crafts do not have as many practitioners as they once had. Part of the reason for creating the We Are Repairs community is to support repair and restoration experts in promoting their services and bringing these industries back to life so that every town and city does have these skills once again.
There are some fabulous free repair cafe’s that operate all over the UK so check out the map on the Community Repair Café Network page here to find one local to you. If you don’t want to keep your item, consider donating it to a good cause rather than throwing it away - you can find links to some wonderful charities and companies on our Donate/Recycle section here.
Again, this will depend on what your item is and how much work needs to be done to repair it, as well as how busy our repairers are with other restoration. Our repairers will give you an idea of the timeframe for the repair when you ask for a quote.
This will depend on what your item is and how much work needs to be done to repair it. All of our repairers will provide a no-obligation estimate of how much it will cost to repair your item before the work begins so you can make an informed decision on whether to go ahead.
Simply type the item you need to repair and your location into the search box at the top of any page on the We Are Repairs website and you will get a list of repair professionals who will be able to give you a quote. For our verified Featured Experts and Premium Repair members, you will be able to send them a message directly from their listing page as well as find information about their businesses. On the basic listings, you will find a phone number and/or email address that you can contact them with. Please mention We Are Repairs when getting in touch with your chosen repair business.
We have repair professionals ready and waiting to help you repair your items across 18 categories of household items. So whether you're looking to repair your Small Electricals, like your kettle, toaster or computer, or larger items of furniture like sofas and sideboards, there will be a category for you. Explore the different categories on our Find A Repairer page here.
Please email [email protected] and one of our team will aim to come back to you within 3 working days.
We will create your bespoke Listing based on the information you provide at the application stage. It’s our goal to make your Listing look amazing, so if there is any missing information, or if you need extra support, we will be more than happy to help.
Simply fill out the form on our Membership page with your business details and other required information. This will include setting up a Direct Debit to get your membership set up. As part of our commitment to building trust with the public, we carry out a 10-point verification check for every Featured or Premium repairer listed on our site. Please note, should your business fail this verification, your initial payment will not be refunded (to cover administration costs) but your Direct Debit will be cancelled, so no further payments would be taken. We will let you know the outcome of your application via email, along with relevant information for the next steps.
As businesses owners ourselves, we understand your need to keep your commitments as flexible as possible so you can easily adapt. Therefore, you can cancel your Membership with us at any time. However, we would urge you to give it some time before making decisions. It takes time for the keywords and SEO to work on your upgraded profile page so we do advise you stick with us for a minimum of three months to give your page time to appear in Google search results.
Becoming a member offers many benefits to your business, including increased customer enquiries as well as being a part of an exciting and growing community. You can find full details of membership fees and benefits here.
Any small business or micro company based in the UK that offers repair and restoration services to household goods. It doesn’t matter if you’re a sole trader or a limited company but you will need to complete our verification and application process and agree to our Repairer’s Code of Conduct to be successfully upgraded to a Premium Repairer or Featured Repairer.
